Sickening and so sad. Babies definitely feel pain and stimulation. You see them re-position themselves from the mild pressure of the sonogram transducer.
And as an aside, having a pregnancy terminated or having a natural miscarriage earlier than at term is not easier on the mother’s body. I felt much worse and had longer and more complicated health issues after each miscarriage I had (some with D&C, some early enough that no procedure was necessary), than after delivery of my healthy full-term children.
